Trafficking in Marijuana in Georgia

When a person possesses, sells, delivers, manufactures, grows, or brings ten pounds or more of marijuana into the state of Georgia, he or she is facing a trafficking charge.

If the amount is less than 2,000 pounds, the minimum sentence is five years imprisonment, and the fine may not be less than $100,000.00.

Between 2,000 and 10,000 pounds the minimum sentence for trafficking in marijuana is seven years in prison and a fine of $250,000.00.

If the quantity of marijuana is greater than 10,000 pounds, the minimum sentence is 15 years and a $1,000,000.00 fine. As you might expect, these fines are rarely collected in full.
